Volunteering as crew

Here at New Brighton we are always on the lookout for potential new crew members – currently [ August 2016 ] there is a recruitment advertisement for lifeboat crew on the RNLI website.

The only qualifications that you need are to be between 17 and 55 years of age, physically fit, and either live or work locally to New Brighton and within a short travelling time from the station.

Ideally daytime availability would be most advantageous, but not essential.

No previous maritime experience is necessary as  full training will be given, however a strong commitment will be required, as the training is demanding, time consuming and continues throughout the year.

For further enquiries to join our crew, please drop us an email with your contact details and why you would like to join. Go to Contact page and select Volunteer Crew for the enquiry, it may take a few days for us to respond.

We have two very different craft in our Atlantic 85 high performance lifeboat and our inshore rescue hovercraft. Many of the skills needed are common to both craft eg: first aid, casualty handling, communications, navigation etc and in addition each require specific skills.

Training is given on whatever specialist skills are  needed.
